Corktown Radio is a one-hour, talkshow-format, Internet radio show. Corktown Radio has streaming audio as well as downloadable podcasts - perfect for time consuming tasks such as driving, working out or taking your dog for a walk. The focus is on Toronto and the Corktown neighbourhood in particular. The show is recorded at the Dominion on Queen which is a lovely beer parlor with a great kitchen, pool tables, live jazz , blues, comedy and poetry - 500 Queen St. E.[at Sumach].

As our neighbourhood evolves, Corktown Radio will help the Dominion on Queen become the Drake of the east.

Your hosts are Dave Martin (semi-pro, ultimate fighter), Derek Thompson (failed mime) and Paul Irving (local burlesque performer). Andy Boorman is the announcer and provides delightful, free advertisements for local establishments and public service ads.
The show also features music chosen by the hosts and old school radio sketches.
Earl "the Squirrel" is our techinical wizard (please make no sudden moves around this person).

This is not the phony camaraderie or morning "zoo crew" bullshit that plagues Toronto terrestrial airwaves. But rather actual friends who behave the way friends do, arguing and making love. When hosts are sincere, the listener senses it and soon feels like part of the gang.

There is a “Low-tech - Hi-concept” feel to it all, with charming false starts and the kind of backstage banter that could inspire a whole generation of young people to take back the airwaves.

We search out guests who have something interesting to say. We have not had any lunatics yet although all realities are welcome.

The comedy is so groovy. Swearing and raunchy talk is not encouraged but it does happen . . . . Please listen and enjoy!

I've been a standup comic for many years in Toronto . I became tired of performing in venues where one has to ask the management to turn off the TVs before the show starts and where the comedy takes second billing to the chicken wings. I work hard to create my comedy and I want it to be heard in a decent forum. You wouldn't hang a Picasso in a Burger King. Stand-up comedy works best in front of a live audience. Corktown Radio provides a forum for anyone to be heard. Comedians can show their range without doing their rehearsed material (their act). If the listening audience is inspired to see these performers live, my perfect comedy venue will become a reality. Now hopefully, the world can heard our funny and insightful bullshit. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
